Abstract:
Dental practices should develop payment policies that offer payment options reflecting the demographics of the practice. The effectiveness of such a policy will only be of value if it is clearly communicated to patients. An explanation of payment expectations should be part of the new patient introduction process. Discussions concerning money matters can elicit strong emotions; therefore, careful thought should go into the handling of financial arrangements with patients. Other policies such as credit checks, antitrust aspects, and small claims court are explained.
